For those who believe it is uncivil to only have one month of the year devoted to Black History. "Black to the Future" is an alternative phrase because it's time!

Mom: "How was school today?"
Kid: "My teacher taught us about George Washington Carver."
Mom: "Let me guess it's February 1st."

Mom: "Tell your teacher "Black to the Future" replaced Black History Month, and UD is leading the charge!

Back to the Future Day

Celebrated each November 5th, Back to the Future Day is our opportunity to recognize Doc Brown's discovery of the Flux Capacitor, the device that makes time travel possible. Back to the Future Day is celebrated by wishing everyone a Happy Back to the Future Day, and updating your social media networks statuses accordingly.

On November 5th, 1955, Dr. Emmet Lathrop Brown (Doc Brown to his friends), was attempting to hang a clock in his bathroom. As he reached over, he lost his footing , slipped from the toilet that he was standing on, and struck his head against the side of the sink.

Unconscious, Doc had a vision. And that vision was that of a Flux Capacitor — the device that makes time travel possible.

Requiring 1.21 gigawatts of electrical power and to be moving at a speed of 88 mph (142 km/h) the Flux Capacitor allows one to move forward or backwards in time.

Dr. Emmet Brown, on this day in history, we salute you, and remember your red letter date in the history of science!

You were standing on your toilet, and you were hanging a clock, and you fell, and you hit your head on the sink. And that's when you came up with the idea for the Flux Capacitor... Which... is what makes time travel possible....

Back to the Future

Movie trilogy begun in 1985 and completed late 80s. Starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd. The plot revolves around Marty McFly, an 80s teenager who just wants to play in a rock band and take his girlfriend Jennifer to the lake for some romance. One day his best friend, eccentric inventor Doc Brown, creates a time machine which is in the form of a DeLorean car fitted with a flux capacitor. Marty accidentally gets sent back from 1985 to 1955 and immediately prevents his parents from falling in love, thus erasing himself from existence. He also has just one chance to get back to his own time when lightning strikes the clocktower. Luckily he manage to get his mom and dad back together and get Back to the Future. As soon as he gets back, Doc turns up from the future telling him that something must be done about his kids. So off they go again (this time the DeLorean can fly) and get into a whole heap more trouble. It's a very funny and quintessentially 80s movie. Even the future is 80s. Its great.

1955 Doc: Marty, I'm sure in 1985 plutonium is available in every corner store... but in 1955 it's a little hard to come by!

1985 Doc: It was Libyan Terrorists. They wanted me to build them a bomb... so I took their plutonium and in return gave them a shoddy bomb casing filled with used pinball machine parts!

Marty McFly: This is heavy.

Doc: Great Scott!
