what's happening to all organisations working in the UK creative sector under the tory government, as a result of the spending review, and a government that doesn't appear to give a shit about the arts.

person 1: "so are you guys going to be touring any new shows this year?"

person 2: "touring shows? we can't even afford to pay ourselves since our funding was cut"

person 1: "shit, did they screw you over badly with the cutbacks?"

person 2: "mate, we got severely fucked up the artshole"

artsolete 

The idea that all digital art is created with technology that will eventually become obsolete. When the technology that created the art reaches obsolescence, the art is free to become a master-work. When only the art remains, no more of the same art can be made in the same way because the technolgy no longer exists. Any art that was created to look like it would be an interpretation using newer technology, reinforcing the idea that all art is derivative.

The art that was created using Commodore 64 computer will soon become artsolete, because there are no longer artists using it, and there are no more Commodore 64 computers left.

Clement greenberg's "Avant Garde and Kitsch" is entertaining reading, but is indisputable proof that the man was a colossal arthole.
