Get the anti-americanism mug.Americanime is an American cartoon with visual art influenced by Japanese animation, also known as anime. It's mostly a fad; cartoonists exploiting the recent popularity that anime has gotten in North America in the past decade or so.
It has the thin veneer of anime, but the characters, plots, and dialogue all lack the depth and clever writing of their Japanese cousin, and the stories are all episodic (with one of the exceptions being Avatar perhaps. That Americanime rivals its Japanese counterparts in writing.) In other words, it's a kid's cartoon that is drawn like an anime.
