Adding or contributing a small (usually unnecessary) bit extra.

When John decided to help out the cleaning by taking away his rubbish from lunch, he was just adding pennies to the pile.

On Myspace, when you go on a bunch of people's profiles and make a lot of friend requests in a short period of time.

"I went on an adding binge last tuesday, I increased my friend count by 8."

Adding Mayo 

The act of exaggerating a story that is not that exciting in order to get a reaction from listeners. Like in a sandwich adding mayo makes the sandwich better, the same goes for a dry story.

person 1:"i went into the fridge the other day and the milk was so off that when i took a sniff i vomited my entire breakfast back up!"

person 2: mate i think your adding mayo to that story, no one cares about your off milk
