An old English double-noun which, because of the use of the word, toss and its own synonymous resonance with masturbation and wank, does not mean "a wanker".

A toss-pot is a drunkard, a toper; a would-be alcoholic still managing to function in society.

Toss-pot

Refers to someone (usually a male passed his prime) who garners amusement and self-esteem through 'tossing off' (literally or figuratively) over the perceived stupidity of those persons who expect something meaningful from them.
Toss-pots, or tossers as they are collectively known, often hang out in groups to reinforce each others defunct and fruitless behaviour. Tossers often meet late at night because tossing off in the sober light of day is not as fun, and their 'victims' are often (more) conscious and inclined to respectfully turn down the 'empty chicken box' existence they offer.

Toss-pot 1: Oh look! There's a girl who looks like she's out of our league but vulnerable enough not to realise it!

King Toss-pot: You draw her in, I'll pay for the drinks and promise her the world.
Toss-Pot 2: I'll get tossing and film you tossing!
