To take credit means to accept honor for an achievement. The implication is that the honor is not deserved. Someone might take credit for inventing something.

Person A: Yo bro, thanks for turning the bully down.
Person B: It's okay bruv, not a big deal.

YOUR RESPONSE was that he was ungrateful and that "We are the one's who made him famous and a millionaire." You did EXACTLY THAT.
