vwvortex's Mk3 forum defines a show car as one that has at least 3 of the following:
-Smoothed rocker panels
-Colormatched/Fully polished BBS RS wheels
-Pulled wheel arches
-A shaved/smoothed engine bay
-A cocky, self-promoting, and 'holier than thou' owner. (this quality is pretty much required)

If the car is at a show, but driven off site before being loaded onto a trailer, it is considered a daily driven show car. Also, if the owner insists that he doesn't lower it farther than it's normal height for shows, he does.

"Damn, look how low his car is! The painted lip is ABS plastic, and has no scrapes on the bottom of it. This must be a show car!"

A place where people interested in cars go to look at other peoples' cars (and possibly show their own).

There are a few types of car shows:
Classic Car: This type is ussually reserved for classic cars and other vehicles of historical signifigance. These types of shows can also be subdivided into catagories based on the type, era or signifigance of the cars.

Speciality Shows: These often feature newer cars that have been modified. Many of the larger shows like this are sponsered by groups and magazines like DUB and Nopi. The larger ones are also joined by demonstrations and events that cater to the type of show (an import tuner show may have drifiting demonstrations).

General Shows: These are for cars in general. They could be classic, custom, modern rare (like Lambos), and stock. Ussually people who show their cars here have some kind of special car (classic or custom)but anyone can bring their cars and show them in events like that.

Almost every car show is sponsored by some kind of organazation like a car club. They also ussually have vendors that sell parts, memorabilia, trinkets and general merchendise (ussually car-realted). Concessions like fair-food and drinks are almost always present at car shows of any real size. More formal car shows (like national and international car shows) sometimes have meetings and other events of the such.

Car shows and strip clubs share the same rule: NO TOUCHING!

Trophy Whore (noun)

In the car scene (especially classic cars, hot rods, customs, and shows), a "car show trophy whore" (or just "trophy whore") is a slang term—often used self-deprecatingly or teasingly—for someone who's heavily into chasing and collecting trophies at car shows.

What it typically means:
They enter a lot of shows specifically to win awards (Best in Show, class wins, people's choice, etc.).

They might haul their car around frequently, polish it obsessively, and get visibly disappointed or vocal if they don't place.
It's similar to "trophy hunter" in gaming: the focus is on racking up wins/awards rather than purely enjoying the hobby, the build, or the social side.

People sometimes use it affectionately about themselves ("The trophy whore is back baby!" after a win) or as light shade toward others who seem overly competitive or sore losers about judging.

It's pretty common banter in car club Facebook groups, forums, and Instagram posts from the scene. Not the most polite term, but it's niche slang, not super serious.

The Car Show Trophy Whore was baited by a prank award that turned out being a "Proud Trophy Whore" t-shirt.
