“Scholzing” a verb meaning communicating good intentions about making something happen only to
use, find, or invent any reason imaginable to delay or prevent that thing from happening . The word came into being after
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised and then used excuse after excuse to delay or not send Leopard tanks to Ukraine in
2022 to support the
war effort. Scholz also refused to grant other countries export licenses for the same purpose. This made international
news for months and resulted in a campaign on Twitter called #FreetheLeopards. As a sign of support, the Prime Minister of Finland wore a Leopard suit, Olaf Brewing created a Leopard Beer, and many
memes were created. You can search and find “Scholzing” on Twitter.
