Offering or devoting one's talent to an unworthy use or cause and obtaining money or something of value by the abuse of one's office or authority.

The head writer for "The Herald Today" displayed such blatant prostitortion by writing feature articles for the mob while taking money under the table.

Not unlike words with a similar suffix, such as "quietude".
