hacker-speak for the phrase, "i know". the word was originally part of The Unix Implementation by Ken Thompson of Bell Labs. in Unix, an inode is a file definition. It is part of a cylinder group, which is part of a filesystem, which is written on a disk drive.

The node structure for an element of vfs is called a vnode. In hax0rspeak, vnode is used to one-up someone after they say "inode"..
An appropriate hacker conversation involving inode and vnode would be:
"Dude, that girl is hot"
"inode" (i know)
"VNODE!!"
"DAMN!!!!"
