(D)ifferent

(adjective)
(D)ifferent is a word used to describe a situation where the media and/or public downplay, ignore, or react less harshly to some offence committed by a Democrat lawmaker or elected official than they did when the same offence was previously committed by a Republican. It can also be used in the inverse, describing an instance where someone ignores or doesn't react harshly to an action by a Democrat, but becomes irate or offended when that same action is later taken by a Republican. By extension, it can also be used in relation to groups that support or are supported by the Democratic Party, such as the BLM movement, the LGBT movement, and Antifa.

The term derives from the long diatribes that Democrats will often go into to explain how and why their side's actions were acceptable, and the other side's weren't. These diatribes can usually be, and sometimes are, boiled down to the phrase "it's different". The "d" is capitalized and surrounded by parentheses, emulating a capital "D" in a circle, which if colored blue is the Democratic Party logo.

The term is typically used in a sarcastic or mocking way by Republicans or non-Democrats to draw attention to the hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance that people display when judging or reporting on the actions of elected officials, thus showing their inability to remain impartial or apply morals equally, irrespective of who has committed the offence. It has been used on Reddit, 4chan, and other social media platforms.
Guy 1: "Why is it that when Obama did drone strikes Democrats were OK with it, but when Trump had Soleimani killed, its suddenly egregious?"
Guy 2: "It's (D)ifferent."

Guy 1: "Are Democrats just not going to mention how they're still keeping kids in cages at the Southern border? They were all up in arms about it for the last four years."
Guy 2: "It's (D)ifferent now that Biden's in office."

——————————

Guy 1: "So Republicans cause one riot at the Capitol Building and get labeled domestic terrorists, but BLM and Antifa can burn down buildings in multiple cities across the country for months, and the Dems will still back them up."
Guy 2: "It's (D)ifferent."

It's (D)ifferent

Used whenever democrat hypocrisy is shown, and the same rules (like the ones used on right wingers) somehow don't apply. The brackets around the D is supposed to represent the sign of the democrat party.
Person 1: Did you see the racist thing Joe Biden said?

Person 2: If Trump said that, it would be all over the news.

Person 1: Yeah, but I guess it's (D)ifferent.

Texas is categorized as a swing state in presidential elections, but has voted for Republicans more times than for Democrats in recent history. As such, as demographics change political alignments, some Democrats believe that Texas will vote blue, or Democratic, due to their Hispanic and African American voters, who often align themselves with the Democratic Party's liberal wing.

Blexas has been cited as possible in the upcoming decades, but only if Democrats continue to win the Hispanic vote in bigger margins.
Democrat 1: What is your prediction for the 2024 presidential election?
Democrat 2: Well uh, Blexas!
Democrat 1: You've been saying that since 2008 though.

Brought to public attention by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in the book on the fall of Richard Nixon, All The President’s Men, ratfucker was Nixon’s term for a political operative who sows chaos among opponents; an agent provocateur. It is thought to have originated among campus political rivalries at USC, and seems to have some usage in the US military.
Along with Nixon’s other ratfuckers, Roger Stone caused fights at otherwise peaceful Democratic Party protests to generate a false narrative that the Democrats were violent and dangerous.
