hermitude 

(noun) the attitude one develops from not wanting to be social, being flaky to avoid socialization, and eventual upfront honesty about not attending social events simply because one doesn't care to.

"Jordy had so much hermitude when I invited him to my bar-b-que... he said House of Cards was on Netflix and he wasn't coming."

hermitude 

a combination of the words 'hermit', and, 'attitude' indicating the suggestion of the 'hermetic vas' spoken of by Jung. In Jungian terminology, the Hermit is the archetypal "Wise Old Man".
The hermit, being "the primitive man who trusts the unconscious" (von Franz on Jung's 'Zofingia lectures')is one whose way of life is concerned with authenticity, the inner attitude to life, and developing one's inner and intuitive life, as opposed to playing a role in the external world of socio-politics.

For the one in hermitude, a simplicity of life and thought begins to unfold.

hermitnating 

The act of confining oneself from the social world for an extended period of time in order to study for that big test or to write that big paper. A person hermitnating doesn't talk to any of his/her friends and doesn't go out (even during the weekends!). Sounds similar to hibernating.

Nicole didn't go to the birthday party because she was hermitnating. She has three midterms, AND she's applying to pharm school!

Hermitage High School 

A school in Henrico County, Virginia. The majority of Hermitage students live in Glen Allen and the west end of Richmond. Although it is known for its diversity, Hermitage is actually a fine institution with many excellent students. The school is extremely overcrowded with 2,300 students due to the lack of action taken by school board to correct this matter. Hermitage's colors are red and royal blue and their mascot is the "panther". Hermitage provides a great education to its students in a real world environment, unlike many other high schools in the area. Hermitage is known for their outstanding track and field program that is the best in the region, their marching band, that has been the Virginia Honor Band for 20 consecutive years, and their outstanding choral department which preforms throughout the area. All of the school's atheletics do well throughout the year and make the school proud.

The senior class of 2007 rules Hermitage High School, despite the junior attempts to outshine the seniors, although everybody else at Hermitage knows who really runs this school.

Juniors- "Just wait, till 08'!"
Seniors- "08- you can wait."
