The act of engaging in intense and excited conversation over a highly technical topic or otherwise geeky subject. The term alludes to the intimacy of a makeout session, wherein the participants relish in one another's expertise in the subject.

What causes IT Geeks to tell incredibly exxagerated stories about their technical prowess. Effects usually occur when a group of three or more geeks gather, often in the presence of female company, whom they promptly start to ignore in effort to top eachother's epic tales of prowess.

At a party, geekosterone causes the chicks to leave when they hear:

"I rewrote the kernel for Vista, and it was stable and actually worked, but M$oft fired me and buried the code cuz they wanted to shackle the users.'

"That's nothing, I, well actually my cousin in one of those Swedish countries, helped Linus write his first assembly program."

geek out 

The act of becoming emotionally and physically aroused by the sight or the thought of a technicality of a certain topic of major interest.

It resembles an "orgasm of the mind".

Geeking out is not a universal feeling. As a result, if one person in a group geeks out, everyone else is wondering in curiosity what is wrong with that person.

I geek out all the time that I read about my favorite software language.

When I saw how all the computers were built, I totally geeked out!

When I heard that he had collected all the baseball cards that I had looked for for so long, and he finally offered to show me that collection, I totally geeked out!

i was done with comics, so i never expected to geek out when i heard about the Xmen movie, but i still reread every issue i had in like 3 days!!
