ETSU is commonly referred to as a suitcase college because the majority of students go home on the weekends or commute to school. ETSU has strong programs in Education, Nursing, and Digital Media. It also offers unique majors such as Blue Grass and Story Telling to preserve the distinct Appalachian culture located in the mountain region of VA, TN, and NC. ETSU commonly attracts laid pack, outdoorsy people who enjoy lounging around playing mandolins and fiddles.
