escapomania

"'Escapomania'" - Refers to what can only be defined as some kind of psychological affect in which participation in the escape room experiences become addictive to the point of almost living in that particular room and moment. The first tier of this affect would be for the person, for instance in a pirate room, to believe they are a pirate or being held by real pirates and the matter is of life or death. The second tier would be a carry-over into the real world. In this case, the pirate or pirate-hostage might be unable to function outside the room for a period of time because of the tremendous technological differences in the real world and the world they are "living" in. True escapomaniacs may reach the point of losing the ability to discern whether they are in an escape room or out in reality.
When he emerged from the escape room he spoke and acted like a pirate; obviously, he had escapomania.
