noun:
An overly enthusiastic PhD, often in the first few weeks of study though some enthusi-asses have been known to persist for up to 7 years (given funding). Typically a strong proponent of Twitter as a stage for demonstrating their enthusi-ass-m.

An enthusi-ass will speak condescendingly to researchers with more experience than them (In my own research I believe I have solved world hunger. Note: this is often said during the first few months of data collection).

An enthusi-ass will take pleasure in telling people how much work they've done today (in order to make others feel guilty for not doing so themselves).

An enthusi-ass will tweet about how they need to let their brains rest after having it blown, including the tag of the teacher (implying they have fully and completely understood complex subjects where others struggle).

A particularly enthusiastic enthusi-ass will claim to read 3 papers a day simply because "their project is transdisciplinary and all of it is so interesting".

An enthusi-ass will be incredibly excited about joining committees. Once on a committee they will make countless plans, all of which are in no way achievable.

An enthusi-ass excited to demonstrate their love for all science even when said science is utter crap. They will refuse to criticise research (other than when it conflicts with their own) because to criticise means to not love science.

Car Enthusiast

An individual that loves anything to do with cars and their counterparts, one who can talk for hours about cars and not get tired of it. These people do not hate on others for their vehicle choice and modifications (so called "rice" is irrelevant, that is total shit) but simply encourage creativity and learning. These people are in a somewhat small but lively community worldwide which engages in car meets, TV shows, blogs, forums, games, magazines, etc. Some enjoy just talking about their rides and others like to get their hands greasy. There are those who put time and money into a project car that brings pride to themselves and a beautiful sight and sound for others. Some enthusiasts will form their own cliques such as drifters or those at the drag strip. There are the young teenagers who have less resources but can manage to build up a nice ride and learn from the best. Some enthusiasts prefer American muscle over imports and vice-versa. Some of us bump our music cruisin' down the road. We can look at any car and say anything about it: where it's from, it's drivetrain, it's value. For some it is all about that great rear-wheel drive. Sometimes we just want to get in our car and drive a hundred or so miles to think over things and enjoy the car for what it does, what it's capable of in your hands as a driver. Car enthusiasts will always be where the cars are, sharing our love of the automobile for what a car is, art.

Gaming Enthusiast 

A person who is totally into the fine and outstanding culture of Video Gaming. Often seen sporting a game related T-Shirt i.e. Mortal Kombat, Pac Man etc.

In addition to purchasing all merchandise related to their favorite game, a Gaming Enthusiast will spend long, hot uninterrupted hours of gaming in some back room. Forgoing proper nutrition, basic hygiene, even pornography in lieu of leveling up. Leveling up for a Gaming Enthusiast is like shooting sweet China White into the vein of a heroin addict.

Gaming Enthusiasts have been found dead with controllers still being clutched in their rigor mortified hands - We salute you

In the future when our world is invaded by hordes of malevolent alien Reptiloids. The nations of the earth will turn to the Gaming Enthusiast to save them. For the Gaming Enthusiast alone possesses the knowledge and talent combined with years of virtual experience for fighting such a cause.

ghetto-enthusiasm 

strong excitement or feeling about something not typically exemplified by someone that is considered "ghetto". often verbalized using vulgar slang in a positive fashion towards something to which it would normally not be directed.

At the National Zoo one day, I heard someone behind me shout, "Yo! It's a mo'fuckin' giraffe!". He certainly had his share of ghetto-enthusiasm about that animal.
