One who has a positive sentiment towards death.

Definition # 2

A label used by members of anti-aging, transhumanist, longevity, life extension, etc communities to identify those who are against said group's ideologies/goals pertaining to extending human life beyond the natural lifespan (curing aging, digital immortality, biological immortality, etc).

Example # 1

Transhumanist: Without life extension, I will not live long enough to visit new planets or experience the technological singularity.

Deathist: Why do you want to be immortal? Won't life become boring after 200 years? You will see all your loved ones die!

Example # 2

Deathist: Death brings meaning to life! Getting old is a beautiful thing. It makes us feel that our time is limited and pushes us to do great things!

Old man in wheelchair: Tell me more about what a beautiful thing aging is.

Assumed to be a type of hard drug, or other illicit substance.

Dealer: "You wanna buy some deathsticksss?"
Obi-Wan-Kenobi: "You don't want to sell me deathsticks."
Dealer: "I don't want to sell you deathsticks.."

deathism

Deathism is the preconceived notion that death is inevitable and inescapable, actually a good thing, and it should be accepted without fear. The term is beginning to gain usage in circles where it is believed that thanks to ever-accelerating scientific progress aging can and indeed should be combated. Deathists tend to be opposed to such an outlook and advocate the "preservation of the natural order of things", and therefore often discourage, or voice their disapproval of anti-aging scientific endeavors.

John is an avowed advocate of deathism, or a "deathist". He believes death is absolute and thinks removing aging from humans would do more harm than good.

A comic book super villain appearing in DC Comics. Real name Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke the Terminator. Highly skilled assassin and mercenary. Basically Batman with swords and guns. With a blind eye. And wear orange. Real badass. Not someone you want to meet in a dark street at night. Master strategist like Batman, once kicked the justice league's ass as easily as making an instant noodle. Deadpool is a ripoff of Deathstroke. Slade Wilson, Wade Wilson, you get where I'm going? One word: badass.

Batman: Slade Wilson... Deathstroke. Former military, subject of a failed medical experiment.
