I've seen a lot of people countering this by saying, "well back then being LGBT was considered a mental illness!"
Difference between being gay, and being a pedo, is that the former is consentual, and happens between fully-developed adults.
The latter doesn't, and current science proves that children do not have fully enough developed brains to consent.

Astragius Galaxy, year 7213. For 100 years the space nations of Gilgamesh & Balarant have warred against each other for reasons long forgotten. Severly exhausted, they both agreed to a ceasefire. With peace just over the horizon, some Gilgamesh soldiers turned traitor and attacked a Gilgamesh research station to steal its contents.

Chirico is betrayed and left behind to die, but he survives, is arrested by the Gilgamesh military as a traitor, and is tortured for information on their homeworld. He escapes, triggering a pursuit extending across the entire series,
