Dari/Persian for sandal or slipper. Although worn predominately on the feet, they can also be used as a projectile or an extension of the hand when slapping another individual.

Chaplaks are the preferred choice of weapon by Afghan mothers against unruly children. Other weapons include, but are not limited to:
kamarband (belt)
magas-kush (fly-swatter)
