Verb.
The act of choosing to engage in festivities by ones self/lonesome, often when a social alternative is available.
Festibation is distinctly different from not being invited to social events, or not having
friends to celebrate with. It is also different from simply not celebrating festivities.
The act of festibating often includes declining an invitation before engaging in festivities alone or in secrecy, sometimes without informing other persons/parties that could/would/want to participate.
A common symptom of festibation is denying that any festivities took place and lying to close
friends and
family that they 'forgot' or 'did not have time' to engage in
said festivities.
"instead of celebrating with his
friends or
family, mike spent his thirtieth birthday festibating in his single player minecraft world. he positioned his six dogs in a circle around a cake and used note blocks to play happy birthday. he later lied to his
friends and
family, saying he 'totally forgot it was his birthday'."
"hey mike, i'm having a halloween party at my place. a lot of girls are coming you in?"
"nah bro, i think i'm gonna have a chill night and re-watch stranger things."
"dude, are you really gonna festibate this year too?"
"bro,
don't say it like that..."
"bro did you see mike's insta? he's watching the new years fireworks on TV."
"yeah, i invited him to the party but he said he was busy."
"he's drinking champagne out of a mug in his apartment..."
"we love him, but he's a chronic festibator."
