Vinsters (aka. Viny's or V's) are a subculture of men and woman, typically in their 20's and 30's, that value the retro and vintage ideals. They have interests in the art forms of creativity, etiquette, innovation, and intellect. Their love of vintage is for the romantic ideals, artistic integrity, style, and etiquette.
They are described as classy, cultured, gentlemanly or ladylike, bold, and adventurous. Vinsters are self motivated, and tend to keep close watch on the advances of technology.
The Vintster's style is an homage of Victorian to mid 1960's styles, selecting key items from those eras that interest them individually to create their own unique style. This does not mean that the Vinster is "showy" but that they carry themselves in a way that is presentable. This includes high care to personal hygiene, with it even becoming somewhat of an art form to many.
Unlike Dandies and Quaintrelles, Vinsters tend not to pull influence any earlier than the victorian period. Along with rejecting the title of Dandy and Quaintrelle, the Vinster also rejects any labels that include the terms indie and hipster. This is because the Viny sees themselves as a completely different sub-culture, and as having totally different styles, influences, and modes of conduct.

The band Vintersorg started out as black-ish folk metal band but evolved into a post-black-ish progressive metal band over time. The first two albums and the EP are completely written and sung in an older form of the Swedish language. Vintersorg's older albums are about nature and mythology, while the recent albums are more about philosophy, science, and astronomy.

Get the Vinstar mug.The origins of Vintersorg the band come from a band called Vargartron in 1994. The band eventually folded, but Vintersorg (the man) decided to continue with some of the band ideas, and so Vintersorg the band was born. Mostly a one-man project with only a couple of guests helping out (though guitarist Mattias Marklund is now considered an official full member), the Vintersorg style is epic, post-black metal, with occasional folk influences. Vintersorg's midrange vocals are unique (the closest comparison might be Dan Swano's clean/non-death style), he is a fine vocalist and a very good songwriter, as the songs have none of the self-indulgence one might expect from a one-man band.
Vintersorg (the man) has recently joined Borknagar as their vocalist, but this band remains an ongoing project. He is also a member of two other bands, the more folky Otyg and the gothic-inspired Havayoth, both of which have recorded albums.
