upperclassman

Any student in a high school other than a freshman. These students are usually pretty normal, but for some of them, the evolution from frosh to non-frosh makes them into total jackasses. These jackass-upperclassmen should be avoided by freshmen at all costs.
Upperclassman: Hey, you're a freshman, right?
Freshman: Uh ... yeah?
Upperclassman: Go clean the floor with your tongue.

But its good for the Freshman to *try* to get on their good side.

shiny upperclassmen syndrome

When a boy becomes more appealing to a girl simply because he is older than her, specifically if he is an upperclassman (junior or senior in high school). It seems many younger girls are drawn to older guys for this reason, even if he doesn't really have much else going for him. For girls, dating up is somewhat prestigious.
I suppose this could also apply in college, but I have not yet come across that scenario.
"Why does she even like him? He isn't very cute and his personality is just so-so..."

"She must have shiny upperclassmen syndrome."

Upperclassmen

The Juniors and Seniors of a high school they are attending. In other words, eleventh and twelfth graders.

Often they are feared the non-upperclassmen, usually freshmen.
Eleventh Grader: YES! We're eleventh graders! That makes us upperclassmen!!!
Ninth Grader: Uh-ohh.... I'm afraid of getting in the way of an upperclassmen....

Upperclassmen

Upperclassmen are the juniors and seniors in high school or a 4-year college. Freshmen are often intimidated by them, due to the upperclassmen being older than them and knowing everything more than they do.

Sophomores are still in the underclassmen ranks, but appear to be more respected than the freshmen. Usually when school is out for the summer, the sophomores are excited to become upperclassmen (aka: juniors) the following year. The juniors are excited to become seniors, and the freshmen are worrying about what will happen to them when they become sophomores.
Here's a story...

Sophomore 1: Hey, school is out! And in 3 more months, we will be upperclassmen! Also known as juniors!

Sophmore 2: Ikr! It's gonna be so cool! We can be twice as cool like the seniors!

3 months later...

Junior 1: Yes! We are officially juniors! Lets go scare some freshmen, shall we?

Junior 2: Hell yeah!

After the prank...

Freshman 1: Why do upperclassmen have to be so mean?

Freshman 2: Probably, because they think that they know everything more than we do

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.
