A brand of queer "activism" centered around the ideals and struggles of primarily white gays and white
non-binary
people. While not outright exclusive, its failure to be actively anti-racist, to consider queer
people of colour, and its preoccupation with western standards and the problems faced by the "average white queer person"; is often alienating to queer
people of colour,
crip queer
people, trans people of colour, and queer people belonging to religious or cultural minorities. However they will defy any criticism on not being inclusive by tokenism and thus referring to the one or two people of colour in their group.
Their actions might contradict their performative ideals and values, often because they do not want to give up their own platform or status for a person of colour. Furthermore they actively participate in tokenism and sometimes downplay
racism. Just like with western homonationalism, there is still a strong desire to assimilate to the heteronormative patriarchy and to claim space in hetero-dominant spaces.
