When an individual (knowingly) counterfactually attempts to prove a statement or theory to be wrong or false simply to be difficult or contrary.

Person #1: I've just had a someone trying to tell me Elvis, Princess Diana, MJ & 2pac are not dead, but are lizard people that have returned to living in a secret bunker on Mars and ruling the Earth remotely VIA Donald Trump...
Person #2: Sounds like you've been Sheloff'd pal.

Person #1: Yeah, you're probably right, they were probably just Sheloffing me. No way they could believe that nonsense.
