A city in
Maricopa County, Arizona, which is considered part of the Phoenix
Metropolitan Area. Scottsdale has a reputation as possessing a highly affluent population, represented by its abundance of country clubs, golf courses, ratio of five nail salons to each square mile, and its retail crown jewel, the overpriced Scottsdale
Fashion Square. This is part myth, however, as in fact many Scottsdale residents are actually middle class to upper-middle class and merely try to maintain an appearance of affluence by living off their overextended credit.
