Recommendation Obligation

The obligation one has to watch a particular TV series or movie after it was recommended by a friend, colleague or family member.

The victim of Recommendation Obligation feels a sense of guilt and anxiety which is only relieved by watching the entire movie or TV series.

NOTE: Social etiquette dictates that one must suffix any recommendation with "but don't feel obliged to watch it if you're busy or if it's not your thing or whatever".
Ohhh, I'm so tired, my buddy told me to watch "Gossip Girl" so I felt Recommendation Obligation and watched every season, even though I hated it.

Recommendation Regret

The feeling of showing a video to a friend and realizing early on that they're not enjoying it at all, but you feel too awkward to turn it off so you both sit there trapped until the video ends.
Cameron was showing JT this awesome video but JT didn't like it all, Cameron had total recommendation regret.

Recommendation syndrome

When someone feels the need to recommend everything they have going on. Games, movies, artists.
Combined with Recency bias, this can get repetitive in the long run.
"The Witcher 3 is such a good video game dude. You need to play it! "
"Nah, Im busy. You got the Recommendation syndrome" (bro is literally just watching YouTube 24/7)

"You have time DAWG, stop the cap and play it." (btw witcher 3 is fr the goat)

YouTube-recommendation-induced delay

Refers to the postponement that inevitably occurs when you go to watch a certain video on YouTube, but there are one or more irresistibly-interesting other videos that are offered on the home-page, and so you spend the next 45 minutes viewing those other videos before you finally bring up the one you'd originally gone there to watch (if you can even remember which one it was, of course, after totally saturating your brain wif all of dat OTHER delightful/fascinating/informative content).
When I'd originally brought up the YouTube homepage, I was just wanting to watch a 5-minute instructional-video on how to re-assemble the carburetor on a Weed Wacker after cleaning it, but I ended up spending over an hour at it thanks to YouTube-recommendation-induced delay!

The Recommendation Paradox

We live in a time where options for the consumption of entertainment media is extremely saturated. We have never had more choice.

So much so, that the general person typically requires a significantly high level of encouragement from a variety of sources to reach the threshold of “giving in” to a recommendation by consuming the piece of media in question.

The problem is, the threshold is so high, that by the time one “gives in” they are often disappointed, as often no piece of media is able to meet the exaggerated levels of hype required to push the person to consume it in the first place.

Thus, the human race is effectively broken in our capacity to effectively deliver recommendations as there only exists two states. Underselling, and overselling.
“Jono has been telling me to play Hades like everyday for the past 6 months, I finally gave in and it wasn’t that good.”

“Well I guess that’s just the recommendation paradox for ya!”

The Recommendation Clause

If someone recommends a show to you, it is stated under the Recommendation Clause that they must finish it alongside you.
My friend wouldn't stop recommending JoJo's bizarre adventure to me but now he refuses to watch anything past part 3, thus breaking the Recommendation Clause.
