pachinko

verb
to negotiate through a field of scattered obstacles because there isn’t a direct pathway through

This is derived from the Japanese vertical pinball game called “pachinko”, in which the tiny steel balls have to randomly bounce and weave their way through a scattered field of little immovable pins.
“Did you ever notice how in a tourist trap there is no direct pathway to the only bathroom? You have to pachinko through a junk shop littered with display stands filled with rubber tomahawks, pecan logs and Mexican jumping beans.”

panchiko

a british dream pop/indie rock band founded in 1997.

they released their first ep/demo d>e>a>t>h>m>e>t>a>l in 2000, sending it out to record labels without success, eventually going their separate ways. until a user on 4chan found a copy of d>e>a>t>h>m>e>t>a>l, sharing the songs, now with a bad case of disc rot due to it being 16 years old at the time.

though people were initially skeptical about the origins of the ep, people from 4chan and discord were able to come into contact with three of the four members of panchiko, shaun, owain and andy, with the drummer john being absent. they were able to confirm the story people were being told.

eventually the band reformed and from what we know, they’re working on new songs. for panchiko, the future seems bright

"People were going "He's over the hill. He's distracted and stressed from going through a divorce." Etcetera, Etcetera. And it all just piled up. I do remember this just looking back. I was like alright motherfuckers, watch this. By the way Johan, these people who left the team to go lead other teams, at the end of the day, they're still Pannenkoeken. It didn't matter."

The peloton hits the base of Alpe D'Huez. Cipo rides over to Pirata.

Cipo: See all them dudes at the back? They're Pannenkoeken! They're gonna get a tow on the team car! I'm fixin' to join 'em.

Pirata: What fool? You gonna bitch up like that? You know what time it is! Don't be no Pannenkoek!
