Orthobro

An Eastern Orthodox Christian male within the Millenial or Generation Z age cohorts. Usually a convert from Protestant or a disillusioned Roman Catholic background. Often seen sporting a beard while maintaining a muscular physique. Shitposts against perceived heretical forms of Christianity, drawing on quotes from theological treatises, and usually has an overabundance of Orthodox iconography on his social media. Tends to be rigidly conservative, often to the point of supporting a return to monarchical forms of government. Although often involved in incessant online arguments with fellow Orthobros over theology and the limited dating pool of Eastern Orthodox Christians females, a deep camaraderie exists between them.
The Orthobros bestowed the title of 'king' on one another as they gleefully left scathing remarks on Dr. Taylor Marshall's YouTube channel, condemning his visions of the Papist church's milkers as prelest.

OrthoBro

A young adult male convert to Eastern Orthodox Christianity, from a culture not traditionally associated with this religion, typically North America, Britain or Western Europe

Some are more “bro-like” than others, and might pursue a fitness centered lifestyle as a way not just to get swole, but to cultivate spiritual discipline and a spirit of sacrifice to be more Christlike. Some others may have a touch of the art hipster or other alternative culture going on too.

Most are politically moderate but once in a while you see one of them into far right nonsense.

They can be kind of LARPy, and indulge in cringey newbie enthusiasm, but are well meaning and are typically well rounded individuals once they are past this phase

Orthobro

A zealous, young male member of one of the Eastern Orthodox churches of Christianity (typically Russian). They are typically converts from Protestantism, and they gather on Facebook and Discord to circle jerk about their superiority.
Bro: I grew up an Evangelical and then lost my faith, but have now found it again through the Orthodox Church.

Bro two: Wow, you're an orthobro like me now. That means you're much more profound, mysterious and original than everyone else.

Bro three: Wow, I have now fulfilled my desperate need for inclusion and community. It's great!

orthobro

An orthobro is a male, usually late teens to early 20s, who practices Orthodoxy exclusively online. They are very arrogant and think they know all truths because of Jay Dyer, They are usually physically unattractive and use religion as a way to excuse the fact they've struggled to achieve any success with women. They usually are not leading with Jesus and are just leading with ORTHODOXY. .You can imagine them chanting in their rooms saying "I AM ORTHODOX" while dancing around in prideful manner in order to feel good about not having a good personality or having done anything useful in their lives while surrounded by a bunch of icons they think buys them social status.

Lots are likely to be obsessed with white skin and blue eyes and are into alt-right style hippie diets like meat only diet. If you disagree with them, they are likely to label you a CIA agent. They are propagandized by a bunch of pro-Russia and low level russian disinfo accounts that use orthodoxy for propaganda.

They are likely to think all science is bad while they play pc games (that are possible due to science) and will think science is part of the antichrist plot to murder all Christians.

They generally are lacking love in their hearts and just use orthodoxy to feed their narcissism that comes from being wounded growing up.

Some will probably convert to Islam because of the more "based" views on women. They will likely get burned out of Orthodox Christianity within a few years.

An “Orthobro” is a colloquial, usually pejorative term for a man—typically a recent convert or online enthusiast of Eastern Orthodox Church—whose attachment to Orthodoxy is perceived as being driven as much by internet culture, identity politics, aesthetics, hyper-traditionalism, or masculine posturing as by mature spiritual life and participation in the Church.
The term commonly implies some combination of:
aggressive certainty or triumphalism,
excessive focus on externals (icons, beards, liturgy, empire, “based tradition”),
combative online behavior,
idealization of “traditional society” or rigid gender roles,
shallow theological understanding despite strong opinions,
treating Orthodoxy as a cultural or ideological badge rather than primarily a path of repentance, worship, and holiness.
The Orthobro never defends his doctrine and resorts to ad hom attacks before running away.

The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.

- Just forget about it, you don't have enough SkyPesos to fly anywhere.

Hate Draft

1. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sports draft to spite or anger one or more of your opponents because they had intended to select him/her.

2. Select a player (real or fantasy) during a sport draft to put one or more of your opponents at a strategic disadvantage.
1. Billy hate drafted Chad OchoCinco because he knew Sam had wanted him since he is from Cincinnati. Billy already had plenty of players to fill that position but wanted to make sure Sam didn't get him.

2. Billy hate drafted Peyton Manning because he was the only good quarterback left and he knew Sam had been planning on drafting him.

Utility beer

Utility beer is the beer you keep around for the day-to-day moments when beer is a necessity to assist in pedestrian activities (golf, plumbing, yardwork, babysitting, staff meetings, Zoom calls). For the beer snob it is the beer you save for neighbors when they drop in at 3 p.m. on a Tuesday. It is differentiated from the actual high-end beer you save for special events, holidays, and special tastings.
Person 1: Dave, did you bring along those hazy craft IPA's so we could drink while cleaning Lyle's pool?
Person 2: Nope. I just have a bunch of utility beer that Steve dumped on me. Good enough for this. It is only 10:30 a.m.
