Newstainer

Employees and ‘guests’ of major corporate broadcast radio, tv and cable organizations whose primary function is to generate cash flow by manipulating and sensationalizing any information, and, whenever possible, do so to also undermine President Obama, destroy the American middle class, erode Medicare/Medicaid, privatize Social Security, and continue to undermine the American economy if that’s what it takes to defeat President Obama and Democratic candidates in 2012.
Rachel Maddow's lie about President Obama's support of equal rights for LGBT American citizens is one example of a Newstainer.

The intentional efforts by the Republicans to default on the Nation's deficit and Fox Newstainer's support of all things TeaParty aka Republican Party.

The intentional, comprehensive efforts by the Koch Brothers to destroy Social Security and Medicare and all the Newstainers, and Foundation and Congressional persons whom they support with their donations.

Newstainment

Newstainment is the product of 24 hour news stations which are a combination of news and entertainment. The news portions fill in the space between the entertainment which is what gets the viewers. Some stations like to also use exaggeration, innuendo and deceptive practices like splicing stock footage of crowds into a story to make it look more newsworthy. They all have a slant to one ideology or another but that is mainly to appeal to their newstainment audience who do not like hearing confusing viewpoints that disagree with or are different than their own. Negative news stories about the ideological opposition is a staple of Newstainment.
"Did you see the newstainment piece on the tea party rally? The crowd there was huge, now that is entertainment errr news."

"Did you see how rude Kanye West was when he grabbed the microphone from Taylor Swift and said that Beyonce should of won the MTV VMA right in the middle of Taylor Swifts' acceptance speech?"

"No, where did you see that?"

"It was on the 24 hr newstainment channels for 20 hours a day last week. How could you have missed it! Oh yeah I think they also mentioned something about that psycho Osama releasing another tape, not too sure though."

newstinence

Staying abstinent from news for various reasons, i.e., to avoid consuming any news. Timescales may vary greatly. The extent of newstinence might differ between strict (absolutely no news) to a more moderate level (for example indirect or involuntary news consumption via friends, acquaintances, colleagues, etc.). Can also be used as an adjective, e.g., staying newstinent for some time.

Might be only applicable and sensible to some extent, which depends on the personal situation of an individual as well as the geopolitical situation of their country of residence.
person A: "With all that is going on in the world, reading about all that stuff everyday, I can't anymore, I just can't."
person B: "I know that feeling and newstinence helped me a lot. Been doing it for two years now, but even just staying newstinent for like two weeks might help you feeling better already."

flophouse

Any house/apartment/frat house/trailer/etc. which is used for individuals to crash (sleep, chill, hang out, lurk, etc.) for a period of time. In order to "crash", one must not actually live there (e.g. have their name on the lease, own said flophouse, etc.). Flophouses are typically used by college students, drug addicts, transients, vagrants, or other unsavory characters.

A flophouse may also be the home owned by the parents of a college student, who after being away at college, wishes to live as if he/she is still at college (e.g. staying out all night, returning just to crash at mom and dad's house, then leaving again), rather than conforming to the pre-college rules.
Example #1
Dude: (Talking to someone passed out face first on the floor of his college apartment) Hey man, who the hell are you? What do you think this is, a flophouse??

Bro: Sorry dude, I must have passed out for a minute.

Example #2
Mom: Where have you BEEN for the last three days? You come home just to sleep?? What do you think this is, a flophouse??!!

Son: What's your problem? I'm an adult now!
