Mislighting

𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘯
A subgenre of gaslighting where one person shifts the blame onto another by insisting that a series of events would have proceeded smoothly if the latter had executed things correctly. However, in reality, even if the second person had attempted to follow the correct order of events, it would have been futile due to the first person's avoidance.
A: "I was too afraid to ask you to stop making me the punchline of every joke, because if I did, I probably would've just been ignored or laughed at!"
B: "No we wouldn't. We would stop if you asked. It's your fault you didn't ask."

A: "B says that I wouldn't have overreacted if I had just asked them to stop making jokes about me in the beginning."
C: "Sounds like they've mastered the art of mislighting."

Masslighting

The art of gaslighting applied to crowds of gullible nincompoops of varying degrees predisposed to the delusion.

midnighting

when you get a sudden big burst of energy, late at night, around midnight, when you think of all these things you want to do but once you get started, usually after about an hour, you lose interest and call it quits....leaving an unfinished mess.

"The next day he looked at the huge pile of movies that he had sellected and pulled out for his horror movie marathon. The idea he got during a midnighting episode."

McLighting

Similar to gaslighting. When you order McDonalds and someone says they don't want any; but asks for a bite when the order arrives and your halfway through that well needed juicy ass burger.
John: Hey I'm gonna order some McDonalds, you want anything?
Annika: Nah I'm not hungry, I dont even eat that shit anyway.
**20 Minutes Later**
John: Goddamn this burger is fat and juicy!
Sarah: Ooh, can I have a bite!
John: No way, stop McLighting me, you had your chance!

Masklighting

Masklighting: a genre of COVID journalism mixing activism with reporting that admits wearing a mask can feel like suffocating but says don’t worry about it.

The term comes from a combination of two terms: 1) gaslighting (denying someone else's reality) and 2) muckraking (a genre of activist journalism).
Example 1 of masklighting:

Person 1: Hey, I feel really dizzy wearing this mask inside, especially when needing to talk a lot at work.

Anti-vaxxer/masker friend: Dude yeah, I feel you, and guess what...all these health journalists online are just saying that discomfort is only a "feeling" and not to worry about it. It's called masklighting
Such shills.

Person 1: Wait.. I thought health journalists acknowledged that feelings are not made up but are actually rooted in the body. Not sure i believe you haha seems like you have misinformation

Anti-xaxxer/masker: Haha, here's my liberal buddy just trusting the Media again... Here look: *pulls out iPhone and shows excerpt from health article*

"If it feels like your mask is making it harder to breathe, you’re not alone. Face mask 'air hunger '— the feeling that you can’t get enough air is a common sensation, often exacerbated by anxiety and stress. And while it may be a scary and uncomfortable feeling, the experts say that’s all it is, a feeling."

Person 1: Damn, guess it's all in my head then.

Example 2 of masklighting:

Person 2: Hey im all good with wearing these masks to help out society, but they're really uncomfortable to wear, let me do some research online from a credible source and see if that's just me.

Health journalist: "Many people report that wearing a mask can feeling like suffocation, but doctors say it's all in the head"

Person 2: Ah right right. I will mentally fix this tomorrow.

A lighthearted reaction upon receiving disappointing news of some sort. Usually something that isn't a particularly a big deal, esp. when it primarily affects someone else - sort of a mild schadenfreude. Sometimes doubled or tripled, and possibly said in a sing-songy voice for added comedic effect to imitate a muted trumpet, which is how the meme originated.
