A nickname for Vandalia, Illinois. Vandalia, a small rural town, was once the Illinois state capitol. The nickname originated due to the town's citizens' known ties and involvement with the KKK. The intensely Republican town is now mostly known for its State Correctional Facility and high abundance of meth.
