Husfriend
This term describes the man in a relationship when a couple has made a commitment to one another but is not or does not want to be married.
This term makes introductions more understandable to "outsiders" who may not be familiar with the couples commitment to each other. It describes a man that is more than a boyfriend but not a husband or fiance.
This term can be used in place of "partner" or "significant other".

A platonic male companion who occasionally fills the role usually filled by a husband by engaging in tasks like carrying heavy things, opening jars, fixing stuff and bickering over nonsensical items.
