a psychological disorder whereby grandmothers suffer from a distorted body image and pathological fear of acting their age. Granorexics may use dieting, self-induced vomiting, excessive exercise, and dressing in clothes more suitable for their grandchildren to highlight their 'ideal physique'. Granorexics often comment negatively about their children's and grandchildren's weight.
A. "Wow - your mom looks good for 62."
B. "Yeah, but she suffers from granorexia. She eats virtually nothing and spends all day doing situps so she can fit into her Fancy Ass jeans. I wish she would just bake my kidscookies instead of telling them about the grapefruit diet."
granorexia is when first time grandmothers freak out about being a "grandma" so they totally overhaul themselves to look hot by spray tanning, buying super young trash clothes and losing tons of weight. when these ladies lose too much weight trying to achieve their new look, they could be suffering from "granorexia".
"every since the baby was born, betty looks like she's trying to look friggin 18...plus she has gotten soooooooooooooo thin!"
"hmmmmm......smells like granorexia to me. wonder if the folks at INTERVENTION would be interested in this!"
Usually, the behavior involves vainity or youth obsession. Many also have this disorder out compulsiveness. Usually she will spend time making fatty concoctions to force feed her family (eating fatty grandma type cuisine vicariously through others), but she won't eat any of it more than once every 3 days. She always refuses to go to restaurants, claiming to hate them or that she thinks they are unclean. The reality is because the temptation is too great.
You take your child to see grandma, and she looks all skeletal and haggard, with clothing from "forever 21, " and you start to become concerned that granny is a "granorexic"
churchhurt is where you experience a degree of distance, pain, or judgement from your church community. Essentially, you are just unable to “find your place”. This is prevalent in the Christian community, but can be extended to other religions.
Now that I am an adult I am beginning to heal from the churchhurt that was inflicted on me as a child.
