In the United Kingdom, a Gyppo is essentially a nomad. Also known as travellers, they wander from city to city across the country for a variety of reasons, some personal, some financial (no fixed address means they can easily evade
local council
tax). The term "Gyppo" is normally seen as a derogatory term and is used accordingly. Plural = Gyppos. Social views on Gyppos are more often than not negative, as the other reviewers on this page can demonstrate. Allegations against the traveller tribes include accusasions of vandalism, assault on local residents, litter, and a general nusiance. Also from
time to
time they build and entrench an organise "Traveller Camp", where local officialls and
police can take some
time to act to evict them from thier unlawful settlement. During this
time around many traveller camps there have been complaints of noise, litter, drug deals and lewd or violent conduct towards local residents.
