GHETTO-TAINMENT

A specific subset of entertainment, Ghetto-Tainment refers to forms of entertainment that are found primarily, though not exclusively, in poor, largely African American communities (generally referred to by authors, scholars and historians as ghettos) that suffer from a lack of jobs and thus have a need to find ways to entertain themselves in their spare time.

People in the community often remark that "idle hands are tools of the Devil".

This is a unique culture that has developed in the so-called "Hood", to use a popular slang term.

They do, on increasingly common occasions,"take the show on the road" in order to foster better relations with all colors, creeds, and nations.

Regular performances are easy to find, especially if you are an urban dweller.

They often perform in malls, theatres, schools, and open air street venues, and even airports for larger presentations of their cultural entertainment practices.

They also often travel to restaurants, fast food joints, stores of all kinds, and even libaries and churches when the number of entertainers is limited to less than 25.

If a public or even private space exists, increasingly popular Ghetto-Tainment will find it sooner or later.

You can even find no or low cost personal family visits from experienced, trained, professional Ghetto-tainers who just love to share with you at home, at school, at work, or even when you're at Fenway Park.
My brother took me to McDonalds for a late dinner after a long day and we were pleasnatly surprized to unexpectedly enjoy some Ghetto-Tainment.

ghettotainment

Second hand reproduction of media entertainment, namely movies or music obtained by piracy, illegal copying, or unauthorized recording.
"Hey, I got that Semi-Pro on disc!" "That's still in the movies, how'd you score that?" "My cousin recorded it at Tinseltown, other than somebody coughing and 2 people getting up, it's a pretty good copy!" "Pure Ghettotainment"

flophouse

Any house/apartment/frat house/trailer/etc. which is used for individuals to crash (sleep, chill, hang out, lurk, etc.) for a period of time. In order to "crash", one must not actually live there (e.g. have their name on the lease, own said flophouse, etc.). Flophouses are typically used by college students, drug addicts, transients, vagrants, or other unsavory characters.

A flophouse may also be the home owned by the parents of a college student, who after being away at college, wishes to live as if he/she is still at college (e.g. staying out all night, returning just to crash at mom and dad's house, then leaving again), rather than conforming to the pre-college rules.
Example #1
Dude: (Talking to someone passed out face first on the floor of his college apartment) Hey man, who the hell are you? What do you think this is, a flophouse??

Bro: Sorry dude, I must have passed out for a minute.

Example #2
Mom: Where have you BEEN for the last three days? You come home just to sleep?? What do you think this is, a flophouse??!!

Son: What's your problem? I'm an adult now!

Hate Sink

A person you hate intensely not because they deserve such hatred but because they serve as a focus for your general hatred. A healthy way to dispense with excess animosity.
Jake's not really that big an asshole. He just serves as my hate sink.

A toe rag was originally a foot wrapping used, since mediaeval times up until the mid-nineteenth century, to protect the foot from chafing by boots or shoes. As these were, quite literally, rags they weren’t usually washed, and so with use they became very smelly until they were thrown away. Because of the similarity in smell, toe rag also became the name applied to dried, salted cod or other things with a strong, unpleasant, fishy smell. It didn’t take that long before the name was applied to someone who was an obnoxious, unpleasant OIC.
1 “Socks! Those aren’t socks you smelly git, they’re toe rags!”
2 “What have you been cooking? Smells like toe rag!”
3 “I can smell ‘er fanny from ‘ere, proper toe rag.”
4 That Heale Malcolm is a right toe rag.

Eternity leave

When some resigns or retires from a job, they are on "eternity leave". This can also refer to someone who has passed away, especially someone who worked somewhere for a long time, retired/resigned, then passed away later.
Oh I'm sorry, you didn't know that Kelly is on eternity leave? She resigned and moved to Hawaii!

With regrets I would like to inform you that my boss is officially on eternity leave. I will never see or hear them again. Ever.
