If you follow somebody on social media, following back is if they are to follow you after you followed them.

@instagram says; I followed you, follow back?
@john says; Already following you!

A "follow back" is a return favor to follow someone who has followed you on Twitters.

One is going to "follow back/followback/fb/FB (#follow back/#follwback/#fb/#FB)" anybody who follows @E.G.PersonB! RT one when done and one will know!

A Twitter user who has a very low IQ and begs for follow backs. We call people who display similar behavior (Matt)

Person A: “Hey, this math problem is very hard”
Person B: “Jesus man, you’re such a Matthew follow back (Matt).”
