Estadity is a Puerto Rican word that came about by deliberately incorrectly translating the Spanish word “estadidad” into its English counterpart, “statehood.” It’s been used as a
joke to mock those who want statehood, especially the corrupt
government officials of the island.
It’s been an ongoing conflict since and things
haven’t changed.
“WE WANT STATEHOOD FOR
PUERTO RICO! 51ST STATE WOO!!”
“¡Vamos ser el 51º estado!”
“Estos huelebichos quieren que nuestro isla sea un estado—como
la colonización no era suficiente. Siempre es lo mismo
con estos cabrones; que ellos quieren ‘estadity’. ¡¿QUÉ ‘ESTADITY’ NI ‘ESTADITY?!’ ¡Que se vayan pa’l carajo!”
