Gender is not what is between your legs, but where you feel you belong along the gender spectrum.
No one but you can decide your gender.
Often confused with biological sex (Male or Female), which is in fact what parts you have on your body.

Person 1: "Alex came out as agender the other day. I don't know how I feel."
Person 2: "Good for them! And as for how you feel, you should respect them because its their life, not yours. Alex's gender doesn't impact how you live, so you should respect their choice to come out."

Get the gendermug. gender is a social construct
and for all the narrow minded bigots out there; there are more than just two genders which i'm sure you could easily wrap your mind around if you could just pull your heads out of your asses

Someone: What gender are you?
Me: Does it really matter? After all gender is just a social construct

Get the gendermug. either of the two common sexes (male and female), especially when considered with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones. The term is also used more broadly to denote a range of identities that do not correspond to established ideas of male and female, such as non-binary, gender-fluid, agender, etc.
in reference to biological sex (not necessary knowledge if you are going to have nothing to do with their sex life or health/doctoral needs)
person 1:what gender are you?
person 2: I am (insert biological sex)
person 1: okay, cool.
in reference to gender identity (a good thing to know when referring to a person by pronouns)

person 2: I am (insert gender identity<can be something outside the box of biological sexes>)

Get the gendermug. A division of people into two (or more) groups. There is some conflict to what the divisions are, but luckily we have great minds like AOC to tell us how we should be divided. Her critical gender theory: those that menstruate, and those that don't.
AOC: My new critical gender theory: there are two types of people; those that menstruate, and those that do not. Some trans women menstruate. Some non-binary people menstruate. Some cis- women don't menstruate.
A rational thinker: menstruation is "the regular discharge of blood and mucosal tissue from the inner lining of the uterus through the vagina." If you don't have a uterus, you might experience some of the symptoms of PMS, the rise and fall of hormones, with cramping, swelling, nausea, etc... but those are symptoms related to, but is not menstruation.
AOC: You're a man, I wouldn't expect you to understand what menstruation is.
A critical thinker: It appears I understand the science better than you do.
