To redefine an existing word to maliciously suit a personal agenda. To twist or misrepresent a situation's meaning to fit a shady narrative. Done by apologists and revisionists.
When trying to sanitize a word with bad meaning:
"Just to claritafy, there is such a thing as good Machiavellian.."
"Just to claritafy, I don't want to rain on your parade, but we need more scientists and less lawyers.."
Clarke’s Third Law is probably the best known and most widely cited of the three and states that “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Just as an aside the others are:
1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
