Individuals who thrived during the Zero Interest Rate Policy (ZIRP) era (approximately 2008–2022), taking advantage of relaxed economic conditions and corporate environments. Zirpies often embraced a nomadic, carefree lifestyle, pursuing hobbies, side projects, or vanity work while holding positions at companies with minimal accountability and abundant resources.

The term emerged post-2022 as the global economy began recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, marking the end of the ZIRP era that started during the 2008 financial crisis. This period was characterized by easy access to capital, loose corporate structures, and a focus on lifestyle rather than productivity, enabling a generation of workers to prioritize personal interests over professional contributions.
During the ZIRP era from 2008 to 2022, many zirpies joined large tech companies where they could coast through work, enjoying perks like unlimited vacation and remote work, while focusing more on their side business ventures or travel plans.

After a few years of working part-time at a startup with no real goals, the zirpies in the team were caught off-guard when the company started scaling up and demanded higher productivity, signaling the end of their laid-back lifestyle and the threat of layoffs.

a girl who prefers to go "au natural". Typically these girls have a hippie theme to their look and clothing. This may include unshaved legs, and armpits. The defining characteristic however, is long and typically unwashed hair which leads to a series of pimples or zits on the back. Thus, a zippie.
Ron: Dude, I saw you go home from the club with that hippie chick last night, was she weird.

Jason: oh yeah, but she was actually a zippie. I was popping zits all night!

OR

Justin: Todd, you know zippies aren't welcome in this store!
Todd: Then you better stop carrying those little brown cigarettes! Those little brown cigarettes are like bees and honey when it comes to those zippie chicks!

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
