A musical movement and genre that combines the sensibilities of 1980s Synthpop with elements of the New Wave of the same era. Highly focused around 1980s pop sounds, Synthwave can exist with or without vocals.

A modern genre of electronic music that is influenced primarily by 1980s pop culture. Sounds very similar to Italo Disco and usually has retro-futuristic themed album covers.

If you wish music was still like the 80s- it IS like the 80s if it's synthwave.

Synthaniac 

Someone that plays synthesizers when he/she isn’t listening to them, taking about them, thinking about them, blogging about them, reading about them or planning his/her next synthesizer related purchase.
Likes to patch at ridiculous hours of the morning and turns the amp up as loud as humanly possible so that everyone else within the radius of Chernobyl can enjoy it as well. They own a specific pot dedicated to different types of audio cables and more often than not keep they’re favourite synth somewhere close by for emergencies.

After a successful night out Dylan decided he was feeling creative and it was time to craft a new wave/synthpop patch on the Korg MS2000. His neighbours however, were not synthaniacs and so, did not agree.

Synthwave Schizo

A forgotten alternative genre of people who enjoy a wide variety of synthwave music that is mostly aggressive. This phenomenon also includes hardstyle, phonk, and songs similar to after dark. People who fall into this category are fundamentally different from goth/emo because they do not show themselves as being Synthwave schizos. Usually you will find Synthwave schizos in the gym going hard or generally being super sigma.

Guy 1: Hey have you seen john around anywhere?
Guy 2: No I haven't he has been in the gym I heard
Guy 1: Yeah he is such a Synthwave Schizo
