A modern evolution of the "nomad." While an ancestral nomad wandered from place to place in search of food to survive, a Somad (social-mad) wanders from place to place in search of 5G signal, trending
aesthetic spots, and clout. A Somad’s survival is entirely
dependent on "likes" rather than calories. They are easily identified by their selfie sticks, pouting faces, and the fact that they are
currently blocking your view of a national landmark.
"I tried to enjoy the sunset at
the Grand Canyon, but a group of Somads spent forty minutes taking the same photo of their iced coffees in front of the ledge."
"Is he
actually a traveler, or just a Somad hunting for a new
profile picture?"
