Words you can keep
To "skinter" over to someone means to walk over accidently-on-purpose, and try to make the best of an awkward situation, when you're not sure how you will be received by said person.

A "skinter" as a noun is a person who can break an awkward silence with a witty joke or clever anecdote.
Unsure of whether the boy had noticed her or not, Mary skintered by and, upon eye contact, told the joke she'd heard the day before.

When human snags you and a bit of their skin get stuck in your bark. It hurts but you cant talk about it because you're a tree. We try and get back at them by giving them splinters.

Jeff Skinner jackpot

When a professional athlete has an anomolously strong season (akin to Brady Anderson's 50 home run 1996 season) right before their contract ends, resulting in their next contract ridiculously overpaying them.
“Yeah, he’s in the last year of his NHL contract and is on pace for a 40 goal season. I’d call that a Jeff Skinner jackpot.”

city chicken

A food native to Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania in which cubes of pork and/or veal are put on a short, wooden skewer, breaded, then baked and/or fried.

I've heard that city chicken originated during the Great Depression, when folks didn't have enough money to buy full cuts of meat, so they assembled meat scraps on a wooden skewer, creating a make-shift drumstick. Hence the name.
