Salvador Allende

Socialist hero and champion of the poor who was President of Chile from 1970-73. He was the first democratically elected Marxist in human history; a friend of Fidel Castro and admirer of revolutionary Che Guevara, yet he was totally dedicated to achieving socialism through peaceful, legislative means.
