Normally used to imply that the person has some knowledge on the science of biochemical reactions which occur in energy expenditure and metabolism as an organism converts food into usable energy-but notice they never use R.D. after their name, as they would be prosecuted for impersonating real scientists.

Someone who is highly interested in healthy eating, nutrition, natural living and wellness. This person might also be well-read on topics like vitamins, supplements, natural remedies, whole-body wellness, fitness, etc. Basically, someone who wants to live healthy through eating healthy.
My sister the "Nutritionista" - she shops at Whole Foods, is always drinking water, does yoga, takes lots of vitamins. Damn, her skin looks great for her age...
