Een Antilliaans-Nederlandse benaming van een (voorheen) ontgonnen gebied op Curaçao, Bonaire of Aruba, waar men planten kweekt of kweekte. Uiteindelijk van het inheems (Arowaks) voor "platteland" of stuk land waar men maïs en andere gewassen kweekte.

Om van mijn huis bij het huis van mijn grootmoeder te komen, kan ik een kortere weg via de knoek nemen.
