Words you can keep
An acronym created by Dr. Sidney B. Simon, professor of Education, retired from the Univ. of Massachusetts. His activity, I Am Lovable And Capable, was developed to help children not put themselves down and learn to value themselves. He later wrote a book by that title. The activity has become so popular that so many people have 'borrowed' it (read "plagiarized") that they've separated his name and authorship from the material. He is still actively conducting trainings all over the US. Because the metaphor in the exercise is a SIGN with the IALAC letters on it, people say, "He ripped my sign" when they mean "he hurt my feelings."
He ripped my IALAC sign.

Iryland is a girl who is loved fiercely by all those around her, even though sometimes she cannot see it. In fact, her insecurities blind her from the amazing parts of herself, such as how amazing she does her hair, or the way you could get lost in her eyes for hours. Iryland is waiting for her perfect person to come and sweep her off her feet, but there is nobody who truly deserves her, so everybody around her tries as best they can to woo her. Iryland is passionate about EVERYTHING— the tv shows she watches, the books she reads. This passion sparks her enthralling personality, and her unbeatable sense of humor. If you meet an Iryland just know that you should consider yourself lucky, as she is one of the best girls you will ever get to know.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
