Originally a term used during slave times for slaves who worked in the master's house on a plantation, it is now derisively used for Black people who are always trying to ingratiate themselves with their neo-conservative white "masters" by distancing themselves from everything Black, such as rap music.

House-niggers Condi Rice and Bill Cosby are always quick to point out that gangsta rap is part of "the problem" with Black people instead of acknowleding that it is a symptom of a conspiracy to keep young Black men in chains!

The house nigger, as defined by Malcolm X, is the slave who imagines himself to be thought of as kin by his master because they live in the same house.

A modern-day equivalent is a dishwasher who has a chip on his shoulder because he busts suds at a four-star hotel or restaurant.

House nigger 

Could be a girlfriend or boyfriend of any race that gets treated lower than rest of the family. The house nigger gets blamed for things that go missing around the house, and they also do all the cooking and cleaning. Sometimes on special occasions the master will take the house nigger out for a special treat by buying them something small like some new dish towels they could use to clean the house or a new mop they've had their eye on. But there's a price for that...the house nigger will have to put out or else there's hell to pay.

I do so much nice things for these ungrateful people and they never seem to appreciate it; Why do I get blamed for everything. I'm too afraid to speak up about it because if I do they might kick me out again. I feel more like the house nigger not his girlfriend.

house nigger 

It refers originally to slavery times, when black women used to be raped by the white slave owners to produce mixed children. They would usually grow up working in the plantation house and sometimes would receive education, unlike the black slaves who worked outside in the fields.

The mixed children would associate with whites and have privileges the slaves did not.

Now the term refers in a derogatory manner to lighter-skinned people of color, who are sometimes perceived as acting superior to darker-skinned people, and who because of their color, association with whites in what is viewed as a fawning manner, and greater success in life are sometimes resented by those less fortunate.

Since Rasheed got that office job, he is full of himself and acting like a house nigger.
