A Fedpot is an undercover operation set up by federal agents from a government agency, to catch people (mostly internet users) commiting illicit /illegal or disliked actions. It is disguised most commonly as a website that either goes against the government, by conveying a specific message/statement. Or as a shop willing to sell goods or services that are illegal or heavily restricted. The desired outcome of these operations is to collect information on users that can be used to, de-anonymize and/or identify people of interest that are believed to be breaking or will break the law. Or are planning on going against the government.

The fed part of fedposting comes from the fact that these posts are either made by federal agents hoping to entrap someone into saying the same thing and getting visited by the feds for it, or by naive people saying the same things and ending up with visits from the feds.
