A financial expenditure/transfer dat a woman's family shells out to her new husband upon her wedding, but are none too thrilled about it.
In da W.C. Fields comedy, "The Dentist", da cantankerous lead character is crowd-pressured into agreeing to allow his daughter to continue having da ice-delivery man as her fiance, but I'm guessing dat said heatedly-resentful practitioner was really ears-smokingly begrudging wif his doury when they did eventually get hitched!

Get the the dourcey mug.A stupid name made up by Westerners to describe a diverse range of makeup styles originating from China. "Douyin" is the original Chinese version of TikTok but the majority of makeup trends in China do not originate from Douyin at all. Chinese makeup is also often misattributed to having origins in Japan or South Korea despite being distinctive from them. It is common practise for people in the West to tag images and videos of Chinese women on social media with hashtags like "japancore" or "kbeauty". A notable case involved the "manhua lash" trend in China being rebranded as "manga lashes" when they became popularized in the West. One of the most popular Chinese makeup styles is "chunyu", which is an entire aesthetic in itself.
Person 1: Oh my gosh, I love Douyin makeup.
Person 2: You can just call it "Chinese makeup". Refusing to do so is quite Sinophobic.

Get the hunky dory mug.The exterior area of a home surrounding the most commonly used entryway, typically the driveway area; A logical extension of "barnyard," "back yard" and "front yard," it is likely that this compound word grew out of a necessity to distinguish working areas from living areas. In a practice common to the region, homes were attached to barns and other out-buildings; dooryard identifies the exterior area of a home not given over to farming. A household word in the County, dooryard is seldom heard elsewhere.
